Happy MLK Jr. Day 2021

What a great weekend. We were supposed to go to Tucson, but we moved our dates due to some scheduling conflicts. It turned out to be a lovely weekend. We took a few bike rides which were so fun for us since we ended up at …..LUCI’s. This is always a welcomed destination due to the overpriced macaroons.

On Monday, we visited Mama and she was overflowing with cars for Tot!

It was so fun to visit Mama and just enjoy her company. Tot misses seeing her! Tatum wore her new shoes she bought at Hobby Lobby with her allowance. Best $7 ever spent.

Later that day, Tatum was playing outside and she tried to retrieve her ball which had fallen in the pool. Guess what happened next? Yep, she fell right in the 50 degree water. Well, it worked out because I forgot she had a swimming lesson that day, so we felt good about her missing since she got her “swim” in. I told her that we would laugh about it later. Later we did. At dinner!

Now, I must mention Tatum’s assignment from school. She had to write a “I have a dream” speech. This came from her head and heart. Actually, she had a completely different dream and then at the last minute, she wrote this:

Her dream. That is my dream, and the fact that she wrote this just melts me all over. She dreams for “mommies to stop killing their babies and for there to be more adoptions all over the world. This means that more more children will have loving mommies and daddies.”

What a world it would be.

After dinner, I read Martin’s Big Words to Daddy and Tot. They enjoyed a Black and White cookie to celebrate him.

I always tear up when I read this book.

We have so much to be grateful for in this country. Now, if only people would love on each other more.

Thank you, Martin Luther King Jr. for your bravery, courage and teaching of LOVE over hate.

Thank you, Hays, for a great weekend. xoxo

Sometimes tough days happen. Hays make it right

Dropping off Tatum the other day was so hard. She had a difficult morning (due to her choices). She had chosen to be a bit sassy and rude to both Doug and myself. She beat herself up all the way to school. We prayed in the car and she made it right, but according to Mrs. Phillips, she had a bit of a meltdown in class in the morning.

Tatum explained why, and Mrs. Phillips allowed her to make a card for me. This was Tot’s idea.

Tatum gave it to me when I picked her up. I love her heart.

Later that night, I gave her a card reminding her how much she is loved and how God drops it in the ocean. We are a team, us Hays, and when we mess up, we make it right and move on.

Tatum, I love you.

Making cookies with my little chef

Mrs. Phillips and the nurse this time. We love to make cookies for people.

Tatum and I decided on the brown sugar cut outs. They only have 6 ingredients! Brown sugar, butter, egg, salt, vanilla, baking powder and flour. BOOOM!

Rollllllllin it out.

and then we decorated after cooling.

We love you Mrs. Phillips. The nurse also does so much for Tot!

Celebrating the start of Humatrope

As discussed in previous posts, Tot has been tested and accepted for growth hormone treatment. It’s been a long process, and with much prayer, we have decided to go forward.

Today, a large ice chest showed up at our home. Oh boy, this is the day!
I decided to ring it in with a little ice cream, a card, and a little celebration. We will begin on Sunday night so stay tuned.

We will be starting this Sunday!! And do you know who makes it? LILLY! I worked for Eli Lilly for 10 years after college. What a cool thing!

She will be needing an injection once a day. Every single day for many years.

How tall will you be getting, Sister? (Coopy wants to know)

So how else now do you celebrate? With ice cream of course. Coopy can’t wait!!

C’mon, can I have some??

More?

Daddy has been the most amazing HUBBY. He has made this all possible too with insurance and patience. Thank you baby.

Tot, we love you. We’ll take this one month at a time with the leading of HIM.

Flowers make a HOME

I absolutely adore fresh flowers. Just recently, I came upon this new type of flowers. They are called Brassica. Doug calls them my lettuce flowers. They were made for me.

I also am loving hydrangeas and any other fresh flowers they make it warm and inviting. (even amidst the clutter…heh)

Hays are happening! Reviewing our 2020 and planning for 2021

As you know, most Sundays we have a Hay Happens meeting. Before this, we made a craft. Now this is no ordinary craft.

I covered some watercolor paper with a painter’s tape cross. Then we watercolored around it. We would unveil a blank cross so we could add in our goals for the year.

We had so much fun making this. Our right brains were in action, and having daddy join us was a real treat! Focused we were!

The unveiling occurred and now we would share in our meeting.

As usual, first we would say our mission, prayer and verse. THEN, sharing.

We will review these once a month to *check* on each other!

Ok, now, what else are we doing? Well, I bought a journal for each of us. We will be recording our gratitudes for the day and how did we contribute, encourage or influence that day. A quick share will occur daily. This way we keep mindful of our interactions and stay focused on what we are grateful for.

Cooper is grateful for his bone.

Finally, we reviewed our year. What a turn of events happened in March. However, we still did so much last year and learned a ton as well.

We even went a few places too! Definitely a difficult year, but we made the best of it, and for that, I’m so grateful.

Trading Blessings

I love to draw for Tatum, but she also loves to draw for me. Just recently, we went to As You Wish to paint, and I made her a tile for her wall. This is to remind her that I continue to ask Him for HIS blessing upon her. I love you so, Tot.

She surprised me with a little mug of cocoa. I couldn’t be more blessed myself!
